Parking

Never park on the travelled part of a road. If you must stop, drive onto the shoulder (ON-RULE-094). For a roadside stop, park parallel to the curb and not more than about 30 centimetres away (ON-RULE-095).

Distances

• Do not park on a curve, hill, or anywhere without a clear view for at least 125 metres in both directions (ON-RULE-023).
• Do not park within three metres of a fire hydrant (ON-RULE-024).
• Do not park on or within 100 metres of a bridge (ON-RULE-025).
• Do not park within six metres of a public entrance to a hotel, theatre, or public hall when it is open to the public (ON-RULE-026).
• Do not park within nine metres of an intersection, or within 15 metres if the intersection has traffic lights (ON-RULE-027).
• Do not park within 15 metres of the nearest rail of a level railway crossing (ON-RULE-028).

Accessible parking

Never park in a space designated for people with disabilities unless you display an Accessible Parking Permit that belongs to you or a passenger (ON-RULE-029).

Hills

• Facing downhill, turn the front wheels toward the curb or right shoulder (ON-RULE-030).
• Facing uphill with a curb, turn the wheels toward the road (left) so the tires catch the curb if the vehicle rolls (ON-RULE-031).
• Facing uphill without a curb, turn the wheels sharply to the right so a roll takes the vehicle off the road (ON-RULE-032).
