Ontario G1

What this practice test covers

Use this Ontario G1 practice test to prepare for the knowledge test of the rules of the road and traffic signs. Every question is an original item written from a reviewed fact in the Official MTO Driver's Handbook. The official exam bank is not public, so these are not the real G1 questions.

Start with a free practice round of 20 mixed questions. After each answer you see an explanation and the official source. When you know the signs and the core rules, take a mock exam. The mock follows the widely reported format of 40 questions in two sections, and you need 16 / 20 in each section to pass.

The published bank on this site has 422 questions across 19 topics, including road signs, traffic lights, and licence rules. There is no signup. Progress stays on this device.

FAQ

How many questions are on the G1 test?

The official question bank is not public. Official sources say you must pass a knowledge test of the rules of the road and traffic signs. Sample handbook questions use four options. Third-party sources widely report 20 signs plus 20 rules. We use that layout for mock tests and label it as widely reported, not official. Read more in The Ontario G1 Test: What to Expect.

How many do I need to pass?

The frozen official handbook snapshot used for this site does not state a pass mark. Mock tests here use 16 / 20 in each section, based on the widely reported exam format. The official question bank is not public.

Are these the real G1 questions?

No. The official bank is not public. Every practice item is an original question written from a reviewed official fact, with a source link.

Is this practice test free?

Yes. There is no signup and no paywall. Progress stays on this device.

Where do I take the G1 test?

The knowledge test is part of applying for a G1. You must be at least 16, pass a vision test, and pass a test of the rules of the road and traffic signs. Follow the current steps in the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. This site does not book tests.
